Happenings

Okay so here it is. Last week (Thursday) I went in to my doctor because I woke up during the night with heavy bleeding. I was expecting and I was about 9 weeks along. I knew something was wrong and we knew pretty sure what it was, but we needed confirmation from the doctor. Some of you may remember, but back between Seth and Sarah I had a 'molar pregnancy'. It is where the egg is empty so when the sperm goes to fertilize it, it just keeps replicating and replicating to try and make it right but it can't because the egg is empty (no DNA). It simulates a pregnancy but there is no fetal tissue and you have to have a D&C to remove the cells because they CAN become cancerous (doesn't happen too often). Another part of it is that your HCG's levels are extremely high (that is the hormone in your body that rises when you are pregnant and should stay in the high hundreds--i think, can't remember now anyway...), but in a molar pregnancy your levels are like in the 8,000's. So becasue of that you have to have a blood test every week to make sure your levels drop and eventually get back to zero. Last time they dropped dramatically and I was fine.
So when I woke up last Thursday I knew this was the probably the same thing. As soon as we saw the ultrasound we saw that that was exactly what it was. So I immediately went to check in at the hospital, get my labs done and have a D&C. It was quite the whirlwind but we came home that afternoon and just did nothing. Sam took awesome care of me (I can't remember the last time I did dishes--I think it's been atleast 5 days. Can I just say that I have the best husband and I thank God that he is who he is. I love him so much) and we had great friends that brought dinner, sonic drinks :), and love and concern.
I am doing much better now physically. We are still waiting to hear on my HCG levels and pathology reports, but hopefully that we will be good and my levels will drop like they did last time. Emotionally things are going good, I think. I cried a lot the first day and now I am just trying not to worry about it until we get my labs back. This is kinda rare. My doctor hasn't seen anyone that has had two at such a young age, so I see him next week and he should know more and again I am just trying to stay positive until we know more.
Thanks for your concern. I appreciate it so much :)

Update

Wow where does the time go? It's almost the end of September and I feel like I'm behind, so here's what we have been doing lately. Seth and Sarah are both loving school and excited to go every day. Seth has way more homework this year, which he actually does now without complaining for 2 hours (most of the time). He also started an after school orchestra program and is learning to play the violin. Sarah has been busy with soccer. She is quite the runner and really enjoys it. We ask what she learns in school everyday and she always says, "nothing". (that's not good). I know that's not true but she says she already knows it all, great!!! Anyway, Kathryn is loving preschool. She loves to color everything in "rainbow" (lots of different colors) and can't wait for Sarah to get home so she can have someone to play with. She also down to once a week at speech and doing so much better. Luke is still our busy, busy little boy. He loves to get into everything and has some ultimate favorites. One is that if the chairs are not stacked on the table he will push them where ever he wants them and climb up, especially the counters. The other two are pictured below. He absolutely loves my wheat grinder and bosch. He will play with them for 45 min to an hour everyday. He tries putting them together and just general mischeviousness. (this picture he is sad because he couldn't get it to fit together)

The other favorite is pens, well it's actually anything that he can hold in his hands. It use to be a pink fork (that we found at DI) and he would sleep with it, take a bath with it and just have it with him constantly. He lost in fork and now it's pens (sometimes a shovel). He has to carry these certain two pens with him everywhere. It is so funny:)

These other photos are of the other day when we had a picnic in the park. The girls wanted to pose for a photo shoot. So cute!

Twilight

I'm Esme, who are you?

Randomness

Sorry about not blogging for awhile, our computer is being nuts (really it's the internet) and it's finally working now so hopefully no more problems. Anyway, here are some pictures of what we have been doing lately. One day Kathryn wanted her hair in small buns and then she wanted it out, so TA--DA! Isn't it awesome :)

Kathryn also recently started preschool. It's a group of 8 moms that we are trading, but she has been so excited and this was her first day. She picked out her outfit and her bag all by herself, I thought she did a pretty good job.

Last weekend we were able to go visit Sam's brother Chris and his wife and their new baby. His name is Sam so here is my Sam and his namesake.

Kathryn gets so excited for Sarah to come home and then they just play and play. Most days I find them like this. I think it is great that they love to play together and I HOPE that it will stay that way :)

Luke has discovered this. He loves to climb up with whoever is in the rocking chair and just sit with them. I think it's so cute!

Mike and Carly's Wedding

Last weekend we went to my cousin's wedding. We had a great day and of course I forgot my camera for everything bu the reception so here are a few.

They had a chocolate fondue fountain and both Kathryn and Luke couldn't stay away from it. They were in heaven. Can you tell from their faces?

My Step-Grandma (the only grandparent I have left) was able to come up for the wedding too. this a picture of all of us that came and her.

Life

So we were just hanging around the house this Labor Day and I thought it would be so fun to check out everyone's blogs and see what they have been up. I checked my friend Emily's and have been just thinking and thinking ever since. So what would you do if you were in a tragic accident and your life was changed forever? That's what I've been thinking about. She has a link to a site that tells the story of a family that was changed forever. (If you want to read about it, go to nierecovery.com)
So I just thought how grateful I am for the life I have been given. So in honor of living everyday to the fullest I feel like I need to be better for my children, for my husband and for me and make some changes in my life. So I am going to play horses with my girls just because I can. I am going to go outside and enjoy the flowers and gift of nature just because I can. I am going to just sit on the floor and snuggle with Luke just because I can. I am going to be a friend to someone just because I can. I am going to talk about Pokemon cards with Seth until he gets sick of it just because I can. I am going to kiss my husband just because I can. I am only going to enjoy the moment just because I can. I am going to ride my bike just because I can. I am going to be a better daughter of God just because I can.
What a gift we are given in this life and oh how quickly it can change. Be grateful for your life and the blessings we are given and live every moment like it might be your last.
