Monday's Memory

Okay so it's not Monday, but my internet is on the fritz so Tuesday it is. The memory this week is about Kathryn. I am having a hard time believing my little girl is turning 5 next week. A kindergartener this fall. Wow! Anyway, she was born just before Easter and it was a wonderful experience to contemplate the death of our Savior and the birth of a child at the same time. What a blessing our Savior gave us, including life of these precious children. Easter always reminds me of her birth and the joy she brought to our life.

Monday's Memory

It's Monday again, so here's another one. I don't know what got me thinking of this, but anyway...when Mr. Beus and I were still doing our undergraduate degrees, he was working at UPS in the early mornings and going to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would go to school on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. This way we didn't have to find a babysitter for Seth. It worked really well and Mr. Beus took good care of Seth so I didn't really think of the possibility of Mr. Beus being tired while I was gone. Anyway, SEVERAL years later we were talking about that time in our life. He says to me, "Did you know how much I would sleep while I was watching Seth?"
"No", I say. "Did you sleep a lot?"
"Um...well I would lock all the doors, turn on the TV and lay on the couch. I would sleep and doze off and on for 2-3 hours."
"Everyday while I was at school, you would sleep this much?"
"Most days," he says.
Wow was I shocked. I mean it's understandable when he was working so early in the morning, but I had not known that and I'm sure that's why he waited so long to tell me, so I wouldn't freak out. Good thing everything turned out fine :)!!!

Day 4

Of course I forgot my camera, but we decided to go to Hop 2 It. I hoped that the kids would love it and play and play, but no such luck. After paying 20 bucks to get them all in, Seth promptly went off and played, but the girls and Luke just wanted to sit with me the whole time!!! Man, what's up with that! So after an hour of that we left. We had decided to leave Thursday night for our trip to SLC, so we went home and packed. Very exciting, I know. Tomorrow I will have to post pictures from our trip.

Day 3

Wednesday was a beautiful day so we went to a wonderful park nearby. The kids played, rode bikes, had a picnic lunch and just had a great time enjoying the sunshine. Many friends from our ward showed up so the kids had lots of friends and so did I. Yeah! Thank heavens for spring!!!!

Spring is in the Air!

Last Saturday it was so warm that we decided to get our bikes out and go for a ride. The weather has been so beautiful the past couple days and we have enjoyed it immensely. Especially since Mr. Beus has a trial going on and we haven't seen much of him. Saturday we got all our chores done and waited for Mr. Beus to get home from work (because he can fix bikes way better than me). We got tires all aired up, bikes dusted off from the winter and helmets ready and away we went. We had a great time and it was so nice to be outside.

Luke loved "helping", can you tell?

Day 2

Happy St. Patrick's Day! For day 2 of spring break we first went to the annual St. Pattie's Day Parade in downtown Twin. Then the kids got to go to their good friends house and play, make leprechaun hats and eat green cupcakes. I went grocery shopping with Luke and enjoyed having some time to myself.

Kathryn waiting for the parade to start. She put her candy bag on her head and thought it was pretty cute.

All the kids watching the floats intently.

There was a horse drawn carriage and Sarah thought it was so awesome.

We picked up some Subway sandwiches to eat while we waited. The kids and their friends Brytten and Macy were enjoying them together.
For the rest of St. Patties we ate green spaghetti, broccoli and drank green milk. Hope you all had a green day.

Monday's Memory

All this warm weather we have been having has made me think of all the things we usually do in the spring and it has brought back several memories. One is all the things the kids and I rigged up to try and grow some sort of garden. We tried growing tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, and carrots in buckets, planters and make-shift containers on our balcony. We had so much fun checking them everyday to see how they were doing and if anything was growing. None of them worked out too well. I think the only thing we actually got to grow was a few very tiny tomatoes. Oh well, good thing we actually have a "real" garden to grow stuff in now.

Spring Break

Does anyone else dread spring break like I do? The kids are so bored and complain about having nothing fun to do so this year I decided I better do something different so I don't go crazy! I planned atleast one fun thing to do each day so hopefully it will work better. Today we spent several hours at our friends house eating lunch, talking, walking to the playground, watching movies and having a great time. Then for family night we went skating, which the kids loved and out for shakes later. We'll see if the whole planning thing works because for the 2 hours between friend's house and skating, it was a little rough. They complained that time wasn't moving fast enough, that you shouldn't have to practice violin during spring break, that dinner was taking too long, etc. etc. I guess 2 hours is better than 12. So on to another fun day :)

Monday's Memory

Wow, where does the time go? I was thinking this morning about how time goes so quickly. I mean Kathryn is starting Kindergarten this fall, Sarah 1st grade and Seth 4th. I really can't be that old can I or that that much time has past? I remember distinctly sitting in our Wymount apartment when we first moved there. We had the apartment a month before we actually moved in because we were house sitting Mr. Beus's sister's house in Pleasant Grove. Anyway, sometimes I would take Seth there while we were waiting for Mr. Beus to get done with work and we would sit in that empty apartment and I would think about our future. What would it be like to be done with school. Where would we go and what would Mr. Beus be doing. What would it be like to have more kids and have them get older. What would it be like to live in your own house. Now here we are, 8 very fast years later. I never dreamed that this is where my life would be. I absolutely love it and how amazing that Heavenly Father takes us and builds and shines us and makes us so much more than we were then.

House....Anyone?

We are selling our house, so if you know anyone who wants to buy it tell them to check it out here.

Alice in Wonderland

Seth's class performed "Alice in Wonderland". Here are a few pictures, unfortunately they are all we got because a certain somebody (Luke not to name names) decided to throw a major fit and every time we tried to come back into the room he would freak out again so hence only 2 pictures, sorry Seth. Seth was the King of Hearts and did a fabulous job. The whole class sang many songs and did an amazing job, especially since they are 3rd graders.

Monday's Memory

Today's memory comes because it is starting to warm up outside and a comment from Niki. It started me thinking about living at Wymount, BYU's on-campus married housing. Man were those the days. I remember not being able to wait for spring. As soon as the first days of spring would come all the moms and kids were outside. We would spend hours and hours outside, from spring until fall. I wonder that we got anything done. The only times we were inside I think were for naps and food. I loved hanging out with all those fun women and the great friends we made during those years. I cherish those memories of all of us in the same situation; young, husbands going to school full-time, poor, little kids. But I also remember it being a lot of fun and something I wouldn't change. May Wymount memories last forever :)

Update

So I thought maybe I should give an update on what is going on right now in our lives. We have finished with our foster care classes (PRIDE classes they are called), yeah! They consumed much of our lives the past couple months but we learned a lot. A huge thanks to our friends that watched our kids for 3 hours at a time!!! We got almost done with our homestudy, but they informed us that the ditch in our backyard, that only has water for 4 month of the year and only a couple inches at that, has to be covered, fenced or filled in before we can get foster kids. So that is where we are at now. To fence would be a thousand dollars and since we are planning on selling our house before we would get any sort of use out of that, we decided that wasn't an option, so we are filling it on with pvc pipe and rock. Exciting huh!
Other than that we are getting our house ready to put on the market. We can't resist it. The market here is not too bad but we can get into a much bigger home for much less than two years ago so we are going to try it.
The rest of our days are spent before we even realize it, I mean it's March already, can you believe it?
