Memorial Day Weekend

We spent the weekend at my parents' for Memorial Day. We had a great time hanging out with Prindle's on Friday (thanks guys!!) and then spent Saturday hanging out too. I got my hair cut and colored--boy it's refreshing to have it cut so I can actually do something with it-- and then Sam and I went to the Temple in the afternoon. That evening my sister graduated from high school. Hats off to you Jessica, we are so proud of you :). Sunday we spent the day at church, at the cemetery and at my brother Brad's house. The two pictures below are at Brad's house. He has a canal by his house the kids discovered the joy of throwing rocks into it, especially Luke. He stood there for 5 minutes just throwing rock after rock in.

Below is all my parent's grandkids. L to R: Bentley, Seth holding Bridon, Kathryn, Luke, Sarah holding Katy.

All the kids with their spouses at our grandparents headstone. Seth , Sarah and Kathryn at the cemetery with Aunt Emily.

My parents with some of the grandkids at my dad's parent's grave.

Kathryn loves hanging out with Bentley. She thinks he is so cool and they can be found often playing together.

My kids love to get up at Grandma's house and watch TV because they have cable so many mornings they get up quite early and you can find them like this in front of the TV in the kitchen.

Sarah's Singing Concert

Sarah is part of a singing group called Tavaci and they recently had their concert. The videos didn't show up well so here are a few of the pictures. Above is her standing outside before her concert.

This is her trying to look out in the audience and find us. She couldn't find us so she and her friends preceded to start jumping off the risers onto the stage. It was quite funny :)

This is Sarah with her best friend Makayla. They sang together this year and can be found constantly hanging out and laughing all the time. They are so cute together.

Oh, the things they say...

So we were sitting at the dinner table the other night and this the conversation we had:
SETH: What is Sun Valley phlegm?
MOM: It's Sun Valley spit.
SETH: What does it look like?
DAD: Just like TF spit, but with more expensive ingredients.
MOM: Did you guys talk about phlegm in science?
SETH: no, I was just thinking about it.

The things they think about sometimes!!!!!

(and don't ask me why it is publishing like this!)

Luke's Hiding Spot

We have these two chairs in our front room and Luke has discovered he can get underneath them. He usually just sticks part of his body in and it is so cute. The other one is of him under the chair. He thinks he is so cool, which I guess he is...:)

Pulling Teeth

Seth's other front tooth has been loose for quite a while now and he keeps wanting us to pull it, but then he chickens out. So this time Sam decided he would take matter into his own hands :) He finally had to pin him down. He is actually laughing and laughing above and we couldn't get him to stop moving because he was laughing so hard.

Above he is trying the dental floss/string method. Didn't work!

Then he went for the wire strippers and it worked. That's Sam holding the tooth in the pliers.

With the two implements of PAIN...just kidding :)

Missing two front teeth. He was quite excited to have it finally out so he could his money from the tooth fairy.

Blossoms

Thank heavens to whoever planted the trees in our back yard. Right now the cherry, apple and lilac are in bloom and they are so pretty. The one above is the cherry tree and the lilac.

This is the apple tree and all the kids sitting on the ladder underneath the cherry tree. It is so fun to sit under them and listen to the bees going crazy over the blossoms and the wonderful smell they give off.

A close up of the kids. So cute!

Mother's Day

I had a fabulous Mother's Day and I hope that all you ladies did too! After dinner on Sunday (which Sam made all by himself, including a Peanut Butter Pie for dessert and doing all the dishes--what a great husband I have :) we went for a walk along the canyon. They have several miles of paved walk ways with look out points right on the edge of the canyon. It is so pretty and we had a great time. These are some pictures of the awesome views. Above is one of the waterfalls that a lookout looks over and the other is the view that you get from that same look out with the bridge in the distance. Below is a picture of the golf course that is in the bottom of the canyon. The picture doesn't do it justice for how green it is.

This is from the lookout point with the waterfall in the background.

Some developers recently built this dining/event center that overlooks the canyon and it has a restaurant inside that rotates 360 degrees every 45 minutes so you can look out on the view. We haven't tried it out because it is quite expensive but I keep telling Sam to tell his boss to have the Christmas dinner there so we can try it out :)

The kids playing on the rocks and all together on one of the many benches along the trail.

What a lovely picture of us. j/k! The kids made me put this one in, but I am not fond of pictures of myself!!

Oh the notorious wind!!!!! Since there are grates on the bottom of the lookouts the wind can blow up quite hard. It was blowing everybody shirts up and Kathryn's skirt. They sure thought it was so funny.

If you ever come our way we would love to show you the sights :)

the past week...

We love to take bike rides (hallelujah!! Seth can finally ride his own bike) and this is what we found when we got off our bikes the other day. I thought it was pretty cute :) As soon as Sam gets home from work all the kids want to do is to go riding. Thank heavens for spinning class, I can actually ride now without getting all out of breath and dying of exhaustion.

Both of the boys hair was getting long so I buzzed it for them. Seth was not impressed and keeps telling everybody that he hates his haircut(hence the face). After how he wanted it cut, I took all my parental prerogative and cut it how I wanted it because I was not about to cut it that way. This is how the conversation went. M: "How do you want your hair cut?"
S: "I want it like a kid in my class. Short on the top and sides and long in the back."
M: (trying very hard not to laugh) "That is a mullet and as long as you live in our house you will never have a hair cut like that."
S: "Why it's really cool. I like his hair."
M: "Trust me it's NOT cool!"
Now do you see why I buzzed it?

The girls love to pose for the camera so I thought I would take this picture of Sarah's side ponytail. She loves her hair that way. Is it coming back into style?
Anyway, the rest of the week we have been busy working in the garden and trying to get our fenced stained. What fun especially since it is quite the sore subject at our house. I picked out a terrible color (after being talked out of what I really wanted at Home Depot by the paint guy and going against my instincts) and since it is non-refundable and we paid $25 for it, it is going on the fence anyway!! I won't say anymore so don't ask.
We also stay quite busy trying to keep the dandelions out of our yard. The neighbor's yard alternates between a sea of yellow and sea of white every couple days and the wind always blows conveniently from the west to the east and he lives on the west side of our house. Arrrggghhh!!!
