Counter Remodel Anyone?

If you have ever wanted to put granite on your granite tops and can't afford you have to check out this site, whimsies-whatnots. She painted it to make it look like granite. Cheap, easy and makes the kitchen look awesome! I am trying to convince Mr. Beus to let me do it!!!!!

Memorial Day

We decided to go to my parent's for Memorial Day weekend. After much confusion and a call from the Stake Presidency to meet with them Sunday morning (Sam has been called to be on the High Council--whoa, I pray that I can take care of the kids and BE HAPPY while he does what the Lord has asked of him), we decided to go after church on Sunday and come back the next day. We had a great time. Monday afternoon we went to Lake Lowell and spent a few hours with the kids playing in the water (okay so really Sam played with them while I read a book, I HATE cold water!).

Hey don't laugh, those white things are my legs :)

Building a sand castle.

Everyone posing for a picture, those other three ladies there are my younger sisters. Jessica, Emily and Natalie.

Late Monday we had a BBQ with those in the family that were in town. We got to see my brother's new baby, Heston Bradley. He is so cute and we loved holding him. For dessert we had s'mores and rootbeer floats. Luke absolutely loved it, can you tell?

Monday morning we visited graves to clean them and put down some flowers. Here are the kids with Jessica and Natalie by my cousin Eldon's grave.

Natalie and Luke by my cousin Breanne's grave.

Some of the family posing :).

Sam and the kids my my Grandma and Grandpa McIntyre's grave. Thanks for the fun we had a great week-end!

Blogging Problems......Again!!!

Once again I can't get my pictures to upload, hence the reason for not writing so much because I want to stick pictures with it, like Mother's Day and what we did for Memorial Day. Hopefully soon it will work :).

Hello There...

Wow, where have I been. I feel like I haven't been doing anything, alteast on my list of goals to accomplish. We have been so busy and I can't really see an end in sight. Man!!! So for my journal and so I can remember what is going on in our lives I thought I better do an update.
Mr. Beus is busy as ever. I am so glad that his firm is busy, especially in this economy. He finished his singing and basketball for the summer (Yeah and extra night to hang out, that is the hope anyway) and is focusing on getting back into shape.
I have been busy. I have gotten my garden planted--carrots, beets, lettuce, zuchinni, squash, cucumbers, onions, cabbage, potatoes, hot and bell peppers and 4 differents kinds of tomatoes--, plus flowers for the yard, city softball has started again, Luke to speech therapy once a week, keeping the house presentable for people to look at it, planning our ward's talent show, getting ready for our stake trek at the end of June (Sam and I are a Ma and Pa), planning our ward campout for a week after the trek, planning the food for our stake 24th celebration, trying to do the things I should be doing everyday (playing with the kids, scripture study, running errands, etc.), waiting for a foster child (I live in suspense everyday thinking they are going to call), worrying whether we should sell our house, build on or just stay put, and then trying to start my own catering business with a friend. Wow, what I am thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way, if any of you have any great ideas for a name, leave me a comment, thanks!!
Seth has one more week of school and then he is done. I can't believe I have an almost 4th grader. He still loves to read and I can't keep his nose out a book unless I threaten to take it away from him (that only happens when he won't come to the dinner table, do his chores, etc)! He still loves to play the violin and is doing very well.
Sarah is almost done with kindergarten and can read quite well. She loves to get a book and sit next to me and read. I love it. She still loves her horses and points out everyone she sees in the car, not to mention that when we drive around and look at houses she always points out whether it would be big enough to have a horse. Funny girl!
Kathryn getting so excited for summer to be over so she can start school. She also loves to tell us her dreams, which can be quite funny and sometimes quite scary. Whenever we ask her to do something she responds with a very emphatic, SURE! It is so cute.
Luke is well Luke. He keeps all of us on our toes. Mr. Beus took him to Father/Son's last weekend and sure got a fill of him running off and getting into everything. We had him tested for his speech, which is only at about a 10% intelligibility level so he qualifies for speech and starts this Friday. Man here we go again. His is quite different than Kathryn's because he talks and babbles constantly, but you just can't understand most of it. Hopefully it won't take too long to get it better and most of all hopefully his tantrums will go down ten-fold.
Anyway, that is a little bit of us, if you read all this, thanks for stick-in with it!

Monday's Memory

So do you ever win things? Are you one of those lucky people? I'm not, but my sister sure is. And then if I do win something, it is always the worst one possible. I have only won 3 things in my life. The first was at my senior high school all night graduation party. They had enough prizes for everyone to win one thing. There was everything from money to bikes to tvs to gift certificates. Of course I win this set of cow dishes, I swear they were the cheapest thing in the store because they were so ugly. The next thing I won was a set of cookbooks. Okay that's not bad considering how much I like to cook, but these were the weirdest cook books I have ever seen. They had ingredients I had never heard of, let alone would have in my house and most of the recipes were just "interesting" to say the least. Then last Saturday, a friend and I went to a local girls day out and they had all these fun raffles, everything from grocery gift cards to a free sitting and 11x14 from an awesome photographer to gift certificates to restuarants to a package of scentsy candles. Of course I win the most "interesting" one, a mix for beer bread and strawberry rhubarb jam. I guess I shouldn't complain, at least I won, but maybe next time it will be something I can actually use!!

Dandelions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a war going on in our house. It is the war of Julie vs. the Dandelions. It goes on everyday with weapons of mass destruction (okay so really a broad-leaf killer, a knife and a bucket). I will NOT let them win!!!!

This is what I face everyday. Our neighbor is this old man that must love dandelions. His backyard is a sea of yellow every year (yes all that yellow above is his dandelions and that is just one little part of his yard). No matter how much we spray, destroy, cut, scream the dandelions just keep coming. They won't leave us alone!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be fooled by this little guy. He is out to get me and I won't let him. I won't!!!! Go away you nasty little thing, I am so not fooled.
Okay I'm not that crazy, but I hate these things and everyday I am out cutting all of them out of our grass, because everyday there are probably 50 more (thanks to our lovely neighbor). I won't have a sea of yellow. ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday's Memory

Oh the memories! Seeing the kids get so excited about only having 4 weeks of school left remind me of the glorious days of summer that I would look so forward to as a kid! The end of the year parties, doing something special for my teacher, getting phone numbers for all my friends, signing yearbooks and t-shirts, taking lots of pictures, promises to call and hang out often (which usually didn't happen) and the beautiful days outside. I never understood why my mom wasn't as excited as we were. Now I know!!! The endless "I'm bored" is enough drive anyone crazy. This year my friend gave me a great idea. We are instituting the "bored jar". I hope it works because I really have a hard time with the phrase "I'm bored". I didn't get the chance to be bored as a kid working on the farm and in the house, heck I was in charge of a hoeing crew at the age of 10, so the phrase "I'm bored" doesn't work with me. So hopefully the "bored jar" will work and we can have a fun, happy summer!
