Some Fun Things

This is what we have been up to lately:

and

Seth has been busy with basketball, practice twice a week plus a game.  He had fun, at least he said he did, and I guess that means the parents have to not make any comments!  Sarah still loves school and is very proud that she hasn't missed any days yet.  They recently had a 100th day of school party and they had to make a hat with a 100 things on it, this is what she made.  I thought it was pretty cute :)

Happy Birthday Luke!!

I can't believe it!!  My baby turned 3 yesterday.  He has been so excited for his birthday, maybe because the other kids talk about their birthdays quite a bit, but a month ago he had his friends picked out who would come and what kind of party he would have.  On Friday we invited friends to meet us at the fire station, one his new loves, and what he wanted his party to be about.  We went on a tour and by the time we got to the fire trucks he was completely freaked out.  He just wanted me to hold him and all he could do was cry because he was so scared.  The other kids mostly loved it and by the end we got him to atleast sit in one of the trucks and let me take a picture.

Afterwards we headed back home to play and eat cake and ice cream.  I made a fire truck cake and decorated it with the help of my friend.  I think it turned out so cute and Luke thought it was awesome.

Yesterday, on his actual birthday, we went swimming and watched a movie as a family.  After wards he
opened his present from us and then ate more cake and ice cream.

Luke is still our busy, busy boy.  He loves to be in the middle of everything and always wants to "help".  He is talking a little better and that has helped with his tantrums.   He also decided that he can't go to sleep unless he has his Lightening McQueen trailer, stuffed dog and whale, and 3 different kinds of trucks, silly boy!
His loves right now: cooking, fixing things, fire trucks, trucks, cars, books and being outside.
Favorite Color:  Orange
Favorite Movie:  CARS
Favorite Food:  Chocolate, Chocolate and Chocolate

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope all of you had a wonderful day yesterday.  Our day was very busy but we made it through and had a great time.  Yesterday morning everyone woke up to a card and fun rice krispie treat on their plate.  Sam made us all a yummy breakfast and then we hung out until church, which is at 1pm.  After church we had to rush home, eat dinner and hurry back to our Stake Center for another meeting (to find out what ward we would be in), lets just say that the kids were not excited at all. Luke kept telling us "no" when we were trying to get him ready and the girls were very put out that they had to stay in their dresses.  Afterwards we headed home for a little Olympics and strawberry shortcake, which was perfect end to a busy day
We also got to have some visitors for our valentines weekend.  Sam's parents were able to come visit.  We had a great time hanging out and it was really nice to have his Dad here to help set him apart in his new calling.  The kids loved having more people to play games with and Sarah loved having Grandma teach her 3 new songs on the piano (our recent purchase on Saturday, we found it for way cheap and couldn't pass it up).

Campaigning

So we received news this last Sunday that our ward (12th) and one of the neighboring wards (14th) were going to have boundaries realigned to create another ward.  So we will have 3 out of the 2.  We won't find out all the details until this coming Sunday at a special meeting.  Well as you can imagine the speculation is running rampant. (for example, I got 6 calls yesterday asking what I knew.  I guess Sam is suppose to know things because he's on the High Council and then he supposedly tells me and that's why they call, but we don't know anything at this house except for the rumors which we are happy to pass on, because it's so funny!!)  Anyway, we thought we would help with the speculation, so for family night with our friends from the 14th ward we made these signs and posted them in our friends yards.  We had so much fun and they all thought it was so hilarious.  Who doesn't love a good, practical joke?
(okay some people don't, so if you are one of those just avert your eyes now)

Skiing

We went skiing!!!!  Yes that is amazing for our family since we are definitely not skiers.  This was my 2nd time, the kids first time and Sam's 4th or 5th time.  Seth and Sarah's school was heading up on their annual ski trip so we decided to tag along, mostly because it was $15 for a lift ticket and rentals, we couldn't pass it up.  We headed up there and actually had a great time.  Seth and Sarah did really well and after I actually learned how to stand up after I fell down (yes that was what I couldn't master the last time I went in college, remember Sarah?) I did much better.  We took the kids up the lift at the end, which was a little rough because Sarah fell off at the beginning and forgot to get off on the top (thank heavens they stopped the lift both times) and people told us the wrong way to go (it wasn't exactly the wrong way, just not the easy way).  Seth did fine but Sarah got a little freaked out since it was steep and tight turns, but with some help of a friend and Sam we got her down half way and then she was able to come the rest of the way by herself.  Sam and Seth went down several more times and got even better.  We had lots of fun and here are some pictures of our day!!

Family Night Drawings

Last night for Family Night Seth had the activity and he wanted us all to draw anything we wanted.  Luke drew his dad (look closely),
Kathryn drew a cat because she wants to become a veternarian.

Sarah drew a picture story about riding a horse.
Seth drew a picture of his future robot.
And Sam drew a phoenix, if you couldn't tell.

Enjoy the pictures!!!

The Brothers Visit

Last weekend Sam's 2 little brothers and their families drove up and visited us.  We were so excited to have them come and of course when we are having so much fun I forget to take pictures.  Here are a few that I did actually take.  Saturday morning Sam took the boys out to try out his gun, they actually hit a few clay pidgeons, Sam estimates about 15 out of 75 (I just laughed, I thought it was so cute!  it's an improvement from last time).  That afternoon we went to the temple and ate Chili's take-out.  The one sad part was that Sam was sick all Saturday night so he wasn't able to play games with us.  We tried a new game, "Pirates Cove" and then Cranium.  Here is Renee, our pirate winner.
This picture is of Ben trying to act out a "mermaid".  It was so funny!

Sunday they went to church with us.  Sam, Ben and Chris sang "Come Thou Fount" in our ward and it was amazing.  They blend so well together, it was neat to here them together.  After church we had dinner and then they had to take off.  We loved having them here and we would love to have more visitors :)!
