10 Things That Bug Me!

Here you go Tara (and I think when I look back in a few years I will probably laugh at all these silly things that supposedly bug me now).

1. Children pulling on my hands (Luke is at a stage that he loves to grab one of my fingers and try to pull me around. Some days it's fine and some days it is not!)

2. Food that I just wasted time on making and it tastes crappy.

3. Unmade beds.

4. Clothes on the floor.

5. Projects half finished.

6. Having to wait to read my book.

7. Uncomfortable shoes.

8. Things that aren't put in their places.

9. Dirt in the house.

10. Dishes in the sink at night.

Family Night

The kids love to get on the computer and play games. This is what I found one morning when I got up.

Last week for Family Night we all colored pictures for our activity. This is everyone's pictures. Luke just helped color on everyones and Kathryn helped Sam with his.

Pinewood Derby

This was Seth's first year to do a Pinewood Derby car. He designed it all by himself and then him and Sam cut it out, painted it and tried to make it "super cool". Here is some pictures from the night of the race.

Seth's car is the black one. This was one of his races.

Holding up his car and the award he received.

Seth with his wolf den. L to R is Blake, Logan, Seth, Joseph and Joel.

All the cars lined up and waiting for their turns. The white "Speed Racer" one was the overall winner. It's hard to believe that it is the same block of wood all the other boys got.

Monday's Memory

Here is today's memory. I was organizing and going through things and I started reading Sarah's journal we would help her keep. Here is one of the entries: Sunday, November 13, 2005. "I like the color pink. I like suckers and gum and these many candies (holding up 10 fingers). I want to write my fingers. I want to write my other hand. Suckers, gum. I want to write my feet. Mommy has her journal. Mommy has one like mine! Your journal is up there. I can't see (climbs up on the bed to see the book shelves). Kathryn's awake (whispers this)!!"
I just love how random everything was, their minds just hop from one thing to the next :)

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I think it is so fun to check with the kids every once in a while to see what they want to be when they grow up. It changes constantly, but it's so funny to listen to the reason why too! So here is the lastest installment.
Seth: Scientist, Pilot or Lawyer. A pilot because my uncle works with them. A lawyer because my dad is one and a scientist because I think it would be fun to find out new things.
Sarah: Um, a horse back rider because I love to ride horses.
Kathryn: A cowgirl because I like horses.

I LOVE Magic Eraser!

BEFORE

AFTER

Luke loves to be on the counter. I have to be constantly aware of where he is to make sure he doesn't find the permenant markers, gum, water or anything else he can get by getting on the counter. This day, I was in the living room, I looked over and I saw that he was coloring and of course it was the with the permenant marker. I took the magic eraser to it and viola!! All gone, thank heavens!

Monday's Memory

So I thought I would start something new for this year. I am going to start recording a memory I have of the kids. I find as a get older I am forgetting so much of what they did when they were little. I am hoping this helps me remember better. This first one is of Seth. When we lived at Wymount, we were always playing outside. We would spend 6-7 hours outside during the spring, summer and fall. Seth naturally loved it and would want to spend even more time outside. He would come up with all kinds of things to let us let him go outside. One of his favorites was "just for a minute". He would attach that to all sorts of things like, "I'll be back in just minute" or "Ride my bike, just a minute". Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but he would sure try it over and over

Catchin' Up

So what do you do in January? We have been trying to find things to keep us busy so we don't get the January blues. This is some of the stuff we have been doing. We got a family pass to a fun place called Hop 2 It that has tons of bounce houses in a huge room. The kids run around and just play and play. The best part is that even the moms and dads can get in them and play too. We have gone swimming, which the kids have thoroughly enjoyed (not me, I get too cold, brrrr!). Seth has started city league basketball and his first game is this Saturday. Our stake has started women's sports so we are playing basketball on Saturdays. It's not a pretty sight, atleast if you are watching me, but it is a lot of fun and lets me get some great exercise. Luke has become busier, if that is possible, and not talks quite a bit which is so fun to hear. He loves to say momma, daddy, drink, NO!! (and that's how he says it too), candy, bath and truck. He loves to look at the blocks he got for Christmas and point to our pictures on them and say all our names (thanks again Erin). It's so fun to see his personality come out. Sarah and Kathryn have loved playing with their Christmas toys and coming up with ways to earn money for our Disneyland trip (which we are not doing anytime soon but they just want to start saving). We have a great time hanging out and keeping busy so hope that you all keep your "January blues" away!

Diapers Anyone?

I don't know if any of you are familiar with diapers.com, but it is a great website to get name beand diapers and wipes for a great price. Anyway, right now if you are a first time customer you can use the code SAMJ9534 and get $10 off you purchase. Plus if you spend over $49 you get free shipping and you can send a rebate in (it's the Parenting Magazine one at the bottom of their website) and get $15 back.

Another Kathrynism

Kathryn got up late the other morning. I had just left breakfast on the table for her. She came out of her room and this is what was said:
J: Good Morning Kathryn.
K: Is it Spring?
J: No.
K: When is it going to be Spring?
J: In a couple months.
She just looks at me and goes and sits on the couch.
J: Do you want some breakfast?
K: No I'm fasting!
(I just look at her dumbfounded. Where do kids come up with these things!!!)

Oh thanks!!! That makes me feel so much better...

So we were on our way back from our New Years trip and this is what Kathryn said to me in the bathroom of a convience store:
K: Mom did you know parents have fat bums?
J: Oh really (and give her a funny look)
K: Well I mean WIDE bums!!!

Well doesn't that make you feel better about having a fat bum, I mean wide bum. Oh kids! You gotta love 'em!!!!!

Beautiful WinterSights

Some beautiful sights that we get in the winter. There are so many falls coming out of the canyon walls and they freeze and make awesome sights.

Sam's Birthday Party

We had a few friends over the night before Sam's birthday for great food, if I do say so myself, and great fun. He wanted Lemon Bars so we put 33 candles in and they lit up the whole room (j/k). I also made a fabulous Coconut Cream Pie for the adults. It was so good.

Here are all the kids trying to help Sam open his present.

I gave him an itunes gift certificate and he couldn't be happier. He has been keeping a list of all the songs he has wanted to buy for the past 3 months because I wouldn't let him buy any (I was trying to get him to wait for Christmas/Birthday for his gift certificate) and now he can buy 60. He is one happy man!

Happy Birthday!!!!

We are not at home to post pictures, I will do that later, but I just wanted to tell Sam HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! He celebrated his birthday yesterday and I wanted to tell him what an amazing man he is and that I am so grateful for him in my life. I couldn't ask for a better husband and father to my children. I love you tons and tons and hope that you had a wonderful day :)
