We are still alive!

Sometimes I wondered over the past week if we were going to make it. Between a child that can't do anything for himself anymore, 2 extra kids in a tiny house, trying to buy a house and a little friend that comes once a month, I didn't know if we would be alive to see this day so HOORAY! we made it. Thank you so much to my mom and sister who came down for a day to help (moms are awesome!!) and great friends that have watched kids, brought things to entertain Luke, taken my kids to play and let vent at them over the phone. I couldn't of made it without all of you.
On to our other news. We signed contracts last Saturday for the Adams (they are friends from our ward) to buy our house and we signed contracts yesterday for us to buy our house. We are now working on all the loan stuff. It looks like we should, hopefully, be into our new house by the end of July. We are so excited. It is an older home, but it has been totally remodeled inside and out. We went over Monday and they had all the carpet and light fixtures in. Right now they are waiting on the new kitchen cupboards. I got to pick out my counter-tops and appliances for him to put in, so all is left is the kitchen, vinyl floors and the bathrooms (they are replacing everything in the bathrooms too). I was going to write my favorite things about the house but right there are so many that I can't decide. A few of my favorites are a mantel piece (yeah for stockings) and the storage/laundry room, it's huge with lots of shelves. As soon as I get pictures I will post them.
Anyway, that's our news and we are off to a family reunion tomorrow so may I remember my camera.

No good, rotten day!!!

Yesterday started out like any other normal day. Everyone got ready and got out the door to get Seth to his violin lessons by 10. Afterwards we decided to go visit friends for lunch and the afternoon. We went in their backyard to play for awhile. The kids were running around and we were just standing there watching them and talking. At about 1:30 I was watching Luke run towards me. He was doing fine and then he fell down. I could tell immediately that something was wrong because he was crying that "I'm really hurt cry". I ran over to him and he was just crying and crying. He wouldn't put any weight on his left leg and just held his knee. Any sort of movement and he would scream in pain. We hurried and gathered the kids and headed home. We were out in Murtaugh so we had a 30 min. drive. Luke cried the whole time, I felt so terrible for him. I called his doctor and he said he could see him at 3. I dropped the kids off at a friends (thanks Aubrey!!) and headed to the pediatricians. They took him right back. By this time, he only had one dose of Tylenol and was starting to go to sleep as long as I didn't move him, which is a little tough to keep still for 2 hours. We had to wait for 45 minutes for the X-ray. After we were done she said, "Your worst fears have just been realized". I think oh great was does that mean. She sent us back to the room to wait, AGAIN! The doctor came in and pulled up the x-rays. I could tell immediately that his femur was fractured. It is called a spiral fracture and then one of the bones moved up alongside the other so he told us he was going to have to have surgery to pull it back into place and then put the cast on. The cast is a full body cast (yeah for me, 6-weeks of carrying him everywhere because the cast comes to his ribs, which means he can't sit up). I just wanted to cry. Cry for Luke and cry for me. How was I going to do this. I called Sam and he headed right over and my mom and she said she would be up in the morning. After waiting for transport for awhile we headed to the pre-op room. After getting all prepped, the doctor came in to talk to us. After going over what he had eaten (for the 6th time) the doctor was ticked. See one of the nurses said that I could give Luke fruit snacks (which was before x-ray) and he ate 2 then went to sleep. Well 2 fruit snacks is enough to delay surgery for 6 hours. Oh my heck!!!!!!!!

So off we went to the peds floor to wait for those @%!# fruit snacks to digest. I headed home to pick kids up from the babysitter, go look at the house we are trying to buy, feed the kids (thanks Michelle for feeding us) and get them in bed and then head back to the hospital for his surgery. This picture is him just hanging out in bed waiting for the go ahead. They ended up taking him an hour earlier and this picture below is him being wheeled to surgery. He was such a trooper. Hardly cried and was so brave.

The surgery ended up being only a 1/2 hour and they said he didn't even cry when he was coming out of anesthisia. They brought him up to the room and he immediately wanted to eat. He hadn't eaten since 11:30 that morning. He chowed his popsicle and then promptly went to sleep. The doctor said we could go home that night so after some hassleing from the nurse (who I was ready to fire) she sent us home at 1 am.

We had a terrible night, mostly because they didn't send us home with any pain meds and said Tylenol should take care of it, which he would promptly throw up. He threw up 3 more times and would have muscles spasms every few minutes when he would sleep so he couldn't sleep (hope that makes sense). After talking to the nurse many times we got a hold of the pediatrician. He told us to get him on motrin and once his stomach got settled put him on Tylenol with codeine. Things have been so much better. He smiles and laughs and now if we could just get him to eat something besides sugar!

One major blessing is that as I was coming out of the hospital last night the social worker called and said that our foster kids were approved to go home every weekend now. So they will be gone from Friday morning to Monday morning. Anyway, we are moving on selling our house and buying this other one that we absolutely love! Wish us luck for the next six weeks, I think I am going to need it!!!!

Some info....

First how does anyone go anywhere with 6 kids. I tried it the other day and I thought I was going to lose my mind! Needless to say, what little shopping habit I had, just went out the window!!! I guess Sam won't mind that, especially because we found a house we love and have decided to put an offer on it, especially because we got an offer on ours. The best part is that it has a basement and 5 bedrooms! So hopefully they accept and we will move in a little while.
Anyway, we are learning to cope with a full house. I can't believe how much energy it takes to do it. I live for 6:15 ( the time Mr. Beus comes home)! All around they are very good, listen as well as any 4 and 5 year old and are full of energy. Right now they are trying to figure out their boundaries, which has been way better than I thought it was going to be. I think we are still in the honeymoon stage though so check back next week :). I guess I should tell your their names, Isaiah and Lexi. They are thinking the placement should be about 6 mon. to a year. One never knows though but right now they are working hard to get them back. They wake up everynight crying for their Grandma and it just breaks our hearts to see them try to understand why they were taken away so hopefully their family will get it together so they can be re-unified.
By the way, if any of you all hear an awesome deal on a 8 passenger vehicle, let us know. Who knew we would need to make that jump too!

Changes

Wow the changes that come in a matter of minutes. We were getting ready for bed last night and the phone rang, us thinking who is calling this time of night, so we answered it. They need a place for 2 children, a boy and girl, ages 4 and 5. We discuss why they came into care and if we can do this and most of all we prayed. We had 10 minutes to decide. We decided to do it. So life is very different today. They are have been very good so far, especially the little boy. He is very helpful and quiet. I am also watching a friend's little girl all week. Wow, trying to keep track of 7 kids is a chore. I can't imagine leaving my house anytime soon, especially because we don't have a car that will even fit all of us, but that's a different story. On to dinner, wish me luck!

Great Weekend

Of course I didn't take any pictures, I don't know what my problem is lately, but nevertheless we had a great weekend. Saturday morning we got the house cleaned so we would be ready for our guests. Sam's parents came mid-morning. We hung out, went grocery shopping and got ready for our ward talent show that night. Seth and I played our violins with Sam's mom, Sam sang the Star-Spangled Banner, I MC'ed and Seth also lip-synced and danced to a Brady Brunch song. We had a great turn-out and everyone said they had a good time, so Yay! I am glad to be done with one more activity. My parents and two sisters came late Saturday night so we met them at the Stake Center Sunday morning. Sam was ordained a High Priest by his dad with my dad, our Stake Pres and our Bishop. Then he was set apart for his new calling. I am so grateful that we were able to have our parents here and be able to feel that Spirit. We are both feeling not so overwhelmed anymore and are so grateful that the Lord blesses us and provides a way for us to do the things He has asked of us. We were all able to go to church together and share a very yummy meal afterwards. My parents had to leave and Sam's parents watched our kids that evening so we could go to an adult fireside in our stake. It was given by Elder Nielson who was just made a member of the 1st Qourom of the Seventy and he lives in our Stake. Anyway after listening to him and his wife speak, I blessed to be able to help the Lord anyway I can. He was called to be Bishop when he was 27 and his wife 24 and has been in a Stake Pres. or Area Authority Seventy since that time. She has had to raise their 6 children with him gone a lot. I felt very blessed by the Lord and so thankful for all He does for us.
Anyway we are so thankful for such a good family and ward that supports us and so grateful that they came to be with us this weekend.

Funny Things!!!

Kathryn has said several funny things in the past few days so I thought I would share.
K: Mom why are your legs so wide?
Me: Because I'm a mom.
K: Maddi's mom doesn't have wide legs (my friend who couldn't weigh over 110 pounds).
Me: Well some moms do and some moms don't.
K: Were you born with wide legs?
Me: I don't know, probably.
K: Am I going to have wide legs?
Me: Maybe, mommy comes from a family with wide legs and daddy comes from a family with skinny legs so we will have to see.
K: So I will have medium legs?
Me: Probably so (me laughing so hard:)

And the other one...we were riding in the car and Kathryn says: Mom and Dad do you remember Ellen(a next door neighbor from a few years ago that is 93)? You know that really old lady that is really healthy and walks dogs?

And a funny thing about Luke. Lately he is so into plugs and fans. Anytime he sees anything in the house that is unplugged he has to find a plug and plug it in. He becomes almost OCD about it, it is so funny. He also loves to turn on fans and anytime he hears one he has to find it, whether it is an ac unit outside or fans in stores. But the funnier thing is that they freak him out if he gets too close or if he feels it on his skin. Silly boy!

Monday's Memory

I know weird picture to put for a memory, but this little thing brought back many memories for me. You see I have this nasty little habit of cutting my fingers, especially when I am at my parent's house. It usually is never too bad, just requires a band-aid and away I go, but lately they are getting worse. Within the past month and a half I have hurt myself 3 times, the first with my food processor blade that cut my thumb pretty bad, after 25 minutes of bleeding decided to go the the urgent care center, bad idea. The PA after finally looking at it, got a little nasious and just decided to super glue it instead of stitching it. By the next morning the glue has fallen off and I just had to bandage it my self. A couple weeks later I cut myself with a knife. Okay not too bad, just bandage and go, well this time I wasn't even in the kitchen. I was opening up one of those metal scooters for Kathryn with one hand and as I flicked it open my poor finger got the tip taken off. This time I went to a friend who is a nurse to have her look at it. It probably should of gotten stitched but I was not about to go to the ER and that dang urgent care center again (plus I'm current on my tetnus so I okay right :) so we got the bleeding to stop, cleaned it out good and have kept it bandaged well. It looked scary at first but now is looking way better, plus the little flap of skin is now looking more pink than gray so hopefully no more accidents because at this rate the next will be even worse!
