Roller skating

One of our favorite things to do in the winter is go skating.  The kids ask repeatedly to go so we finally gave in and went last week for fhe.
We had lots and lots of fun.  The kids are getting a lot better and now only Luke needs our help.  Which is not to say they don't fall down (which Sarah did a lot and hurt her wrist quite bad) but they don't need to hold our hands anymore.
 Yeah!

Here is Kathryn with her good friend Ashley.  They had a grand time together.
Two of my cute, handsome boys.

Ladies Weekend

Last weekend me and several ladies were able to go to a cabin in the mountains for 3 days without husbands and without and kids.
It was so much fun.  We did absolutely nothing.  Okay not really nothing because we watch 4 movies, put a puzzle together, painted nails, slept in, laugh and talked for hours, and ate some delicious food.
And we took a walk.  It was beautiful up there and perfect to be outside. We had a grand time and I am so grateful for such good friends.

Dressing Up

I think I have shared before that we get out of church at 11 am (at least for several more weeks).  That leaves for a long day of keeping kids entertained and trying to keep the sabbath--very difficult sometimes.

We always have Sunday stations and our family meeting but it's also fun to do something else.  This last Sunday the kids decided it would be great fun to dress up in different outfits and put on a show for us.  It was so cute to watch, even though Luke says he was "horrible"!

(she is suppose to be a one-legged monster)
Cute kids!

Silly Luke!

This morning Luke got out of the bathtub and I was helping him dry off.  This is the conversation we had:
L: Mom don't dry my face off.
M:  Why?
L:  Because there is water on it.
M: Why don't you want me to get the water off?
L:  Because I'm pretending it's oil and it makes me shiny.

Okay....so what do you say to that!

Painting Pumpkins

This year I made an executive decision and decided we would not be carving pumpkins.

Every year we get in the middle of cleaning out the pumpkin and the kids want to be done so Sam and I are left with carving them and cleaning everything up.
So we pulled out the paints and let the kids go to town.  It turned out great.  They finished their own pumpkins and had a great time.
I even loved it.  I think we might do this from now on!
This one is me and Sams.
Sarah and Kathryn's.  It is suppose to be a scary monster in case you were wondering.
Seth made an angry bird (and did a fantastic job) and Luke's is on the back of Seth's.

Halloween Costumes

This year was awesome on the costumes.  Perfect for the busyness that seems to have taken over our lives.  Seth decided he wanted to be Alex Rider (from one of his favorite books)--perfect no extra work for me.
Sarah was a skeleton.  I actually made this myself and was quite proud of how it turned out.  She loved it and looked great.
Kathryn wanted to be a pirate and wasn't too thrilled to take a picture--but yes this was her idea and she found it all in the costume bin!
Luke insisted that he was NOT going to dress up but the night before he changed his mind and decided he wanted to be a king with a sword--cute boy!
Our ward did a trunk or treat this year and finally dressed up our car.  I think it turned out pretty cute!
The rest of Halloween was filled with trick-or-treating to the neighbors and then selling back our extra candy to our dentist.  I love it because it doesn't sit around the house and tempt me and the kids get to keep a small amount which is perfect for them!
