We were so excited to head to Salt Lake to visit the Beus side during the holiday break. Sam's older brother was also coming up from Houston so it was going to be a party. This guy turned 39 on the 31st and of course we incorporated it with an awesome party at the church. Annalyn made him amazing brownies.
He's posing because none of us had any matches on us and after trying to use the stove to light the one candle on fire (it was the only one his mom could find) we gave up and just decided to pretend. I don't think he minded too much!
He said he had a fantastic birthday, he got a FM tuner thing for the car so it will play the music off his phone and onto the car speakers (not really hip with that kind of thing) and a guitar book to learn how to play his guitar. Love this guy!! He is an amazing father and husband, what a blessing he is to us.
The rest of the night was filled with lots and lots of fun. The parachute was a hit with the kids.
The little boys discovered that crawling underneath it was way more fun that holding the sides.
Seth spent almost every single free moment with Colin and Parker. We haven't seen them for almost 2 years and they are the only boy cousins close to his age. They played and played and played games, every single day and night. I think they had fun. And the one that got played the most was one called "7 wonders". Quite a fun game.
There was a lot of talking and visiting going on.
The kids weren't super impressed with that so we found more games for them to do.
Kathryn and Jane playing pickle ball.
One of the highlights of the nights was the dodgeball game.
With at least 35 of the 50 cousins there plus the adults, it is one intense and super fun game.
And no dodgeball beus game is complete until crabs are added in (no thank you for me on this part!!).
Boy does it give you a workout and they were so tired by the end that they resulted to rolling to the next area when they got out.
Boy was it a blast, especially trying to see how they could get the most balls as possible.
Another highlight was the "Minute to Win It" games.
It was absolutely hilarious. We did knocking cups off with a tennis ball in a nylon.
Seeing how many tic tacs you could pick up with your toes.
Putting cups into a pyramid.
Throwing marshmallows through a clock.
Putting kisses in the corresponding cups.
Transferring kisses from one person to another
and then purring it in a bowl.
Blowing up a balloon and then using it to knock over 12 cups.
Stacking cups.
Moving 12 m&ms to a plate with only a straw.
It was an absolute blast. We had such a great time laughing and playing.
Another Beus tradition is a dance party that MUST always include the limbo.
Needless to say I don't participate but everyone else does and they have a blast.
That family can sure get low, low, low... (haha)
Sam and Ben having a char after both of them got out. He sure loves to be with his brothers and I think it's wonderful!
This girl was the winner of the limbo. She was so proud of herself. Look at that grin (and all those missing teeth!!).
The rest of our days were spent sledding with cousins,.
Sarah and Anne are quite inseparable and I love to see them get so close with their cousins.
We spent countless hours talking and playing games.
Grandma and Grandpa's house was a constant revolving door. One night all 35 grandkids spent the night there and man was there not an inch of floor space.
There was lots of time spent eating delicious food (Sam picked prime rib for his dinner and eggs benedict for his breakfast) and going to Red Robin for an adults only dinner.
Grandma's toys were constantly out and scattered around the entire play room. Why pick it up when it will be out every day until all the grandkids go home. Luke, little Sam, and Taite became the best of buddies and spent most of every waking moment together.
Sam and Shawn were quite handy this trip and replaced 2 of their parents toilets along with a new kitchen faucet. Don't you love that pose!!!??
And because it is the Beuses, there was a lot of singing going on also. Here they are doing a Weird Al barbershop song and having a fantastic time splitting into parts and doing all sorts of harmonies #onlythebeuses
We also got to be at the newest grandchild's blessing (#50) that took place that weekend. Sam was able to be there with all his brothers and his dad to help bless her. She is a doll and we had a great time holding her and spoiling her rotten.
What a fun time we had with so much family. We are so blessed!!
