4th of July Festivities

Friday donned a super hot 4th of July, so we decided to head for some water. We packed a picnic with friends and then headed down into the canyon to some cold water springs.
The kids were in heaven to cool off, especially since our picnic site was covered in mosquitoes. Gross!! This is Kathryn's pose that she tries to sneak in when she thinks I am not paying attention.
The water was freezing but oh so lovely. It was crystal clear and just beautiful.

Seth brought a friend but he suffers from the disease of "not being happy with what's happening right now". He was constantly wanting to go back to the picnic area or back to the water or home or just something different. Can't you tell he is so happy!!

 Swimming...

Luke loves to have conversations with Sam. He is amazingly smart and thinks constantly. He is always wondering about something so he took the opportunity to ask his Dad some questions while the rest of us were walking ahead.
We came home and cooled off a little more and then made some food for the evening BBQ. We headed over to the neighbors and great friends for a fun evening.
 We have a creeper....
They have a wonderful yard and the kids played and played. Luke is trying to convince his friend that she should give him the toy she was playing with. Silly boy!
Seth and his friends took great delight in tormenting the younger girls. So they ended up in good natured struggles like this one.
 Being super silly.
 Love these girls of mine!!
The adults did this pretty much the entire time. It was so blasted hot we stayed in the shade and tried to never move.
As it stared to get dark we FINALLY let Luke start to light off some small fireworks. He had a "plan" and knew exactly what order and how to do them.
He was in heaven. I mean what boy is not at this time of year?

We finished the night by loading up in the friends truck, going to the high school down the road and watching the city light off their fireworks. What a fun day and so fun to spend with good friends and family!!
